PM Modi wraps up historic Jordan visit, heads to Ethiopia

Amman: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wrapped up his two-day landmark visit to Jordan and emplaned for Ethiopia on a State visit. In a special gesture, Jordan’s Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II bid farewell to PM Modi at the airport. Earlier, the Crown Prince personally drove the Prime Minister to the Jordan Museum, where Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan gave them a special tour highlighting shared civilisational links.

Boost to trade and strategic cooperation
During the visit, PM Modi met King Abdullah II and addressed the India-Jordan Business Forum, calling for boosting bilateral trade to USD 5 billion. The two sides also finalised MoUs in key areas including culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora. The Prime Minister also pitched collaboration between India’s UPI and Jordan’s digital payment system.

First-ever visit to Ethiopia
After concluding his Jordan visit, PM Modi departed for Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, marking his first-ever visit to the country. The visit is expected to strengthen India–Ethiopia ties, with discussions planned on political engagement, trade, investment and people-to-people relations, as well as an address to a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament.
