    ‘Main chai wala hun, main nahi karunga…’: PM Modi’s brutal attack on Congress in Assam, invokes Bhupen Hazarika

    New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during his visit to Assam and once again highlighted his humble origins as a member of a tea-selling family.

    He accused the Congress of promoting anti-national ideology and said the public would never forget that the Congress had openly opposed his government’s decision to award the Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika.

    ‘I Am A Tea Seller’: PM Modi Recalls His Roots

    Taking a direct dig at the Congress, PM Modi said that the then Congress national president had commented that Modi was giving Bharat Ratna to singers and dancers. Questioning this, PM Modi asked, “Tell me, isn’t this an insult to Bhupen Hazarika? Isn’t this an insult to our culture?”

    The Prime Minister further stated that the Congress had also opposed his government’s establishment of a semiconductor unit. He alleged that the Congress had denied land rights to people associated with tea gardens for years. The BJP government, he said, gave them land rights and a life of dignity. PM Modi said, “I am a tea seller. If I don’t do it, who will?”

    PM Modi’s Allegation: Congress is Protecting Illegal Immigrants

    PM Modi said that the Congress had settled illegal immigrants and was now protecting them. This is why, he said, the Congress is opposing the NRC and the updating of the voter list. He alleged that the Congress is still promoting anti-national ideology and is concerned only about its vote bank, not the people. The Prime Minister once again referred to the Congress’s opposition to awarding the Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today, the double-engine government in the country is working to solve the problems left behind by the Congress. He said that like in Assam, many fertilizer factories were shut down in other states of the country as well, forcing farmers to stand in long queues for urea. PM Modi said that his government is making every possible effort to address these problems and improve the condition of farmers.
