Police action in Baramulla: Crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami network, raids conducted

In a major operation conducted on Saturday in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police carried out raids at over 15 locations in connection with a case involving the banned organization, Jamaat-e-Islami. According to officials, this action was undertaken as part of an investigation into a case registered under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).

The police conducted search operations at several locations within the Sopore area, including Jamia Qadeem, Naseem Bagh, Krankshivan, Tarzoo, Amargarh, Warpora, Bomai, and Boingtu. During the raids, the police recovered literature and other incriminating material linked to the banned organization, which has been taken into custody for investigation.

Officials stated that an FIR has been registered against Jamaat-e-Islami at the Sopore Police Station under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA. The search operations were conducted in accordance with legal procedures, following the procurement of search warrants from the UAPA Court. An Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses were also present during the operations.

The police stated that this action is part of a broader campaign to identify individuals linked to banned organizations and anti-national activities, and to take strict measures against them. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
