Amritsar: Former head of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee and head of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) unit, Paramjit Singh Sarna, met with the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib today. He expressed his belief that those who betrayed the Sikh community should be brought together and punished. Sarna also supported Rahul Gandhi’s statement and criticized the lack of action taken by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee in this matter.
Paramjit Singh Sarna said that Rahul Gandhi’s statement that Sikhs were not allowed to wear turbans and Kada is not wrong. Rahul Gandhi read in the news that Sikh children’s turban and Kada were removed and they were asked to go without them. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee should have taken action in this matter.
He said that the Sikh community is going through a very big crisis. The solution to this issue has to be found by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He is hopeful that Sri Akal Takht Sahib will give such a decision which will be acceptable to the Sikh community.
Sarna emphasized the importance of meeting the Jathedar and presenting his viewpoint. He stressed that those who betrayed the Sikh community should face consequences and that the managers of the affected Gurudwaras should compensate for the losses. Furthermore, Sarna called for accountability among the cabinet ministers in Badal Sahib’s ministry, urging for their summoning and punishment. He highlighted the responsibility of every member of Akali Dal, whether a cabinet minister or not, and suggested that they should be called to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for their actions. Sarna condemned those who supported Ram Rahim and insisted that all guilty parties should be gathered and receive equal punishment.
Talking about Sukhbir Singh Badal’s leadership, he said that on one side there is Akali Dal and on the other side there is Sukhbir Singh Badal. If the party chief survives, then Akali Dal will survive. Which face is there in the party that you can make the chief? Dhindsa will not become the chief, I cannot become the chief because I am not from a Jat family. I do not fit the geographical conditions and being an urban Sikh, I will not be able to work. He said jokingly that he is a BJP leader and hence cannot become the chief. The one who has more community becomes the chief.
