Jammu: Two soldiers were injured in an accidental grenade explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, officials said.

The accidental grenade explosion took place in the forward area along the LoC during a training exercise, officials said.

Injured Soldiers Shifted to Army Hospital

“Two soldiers sustained injuries in the incident. Both were immediately shifted to the 425 Army Field Hospital, Poonch, for treatment. Further details on their condition are awaited,” an official said.

LoC and Security Deployment in J&K 

Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km-long LoC spread across Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district.

The LoC is guarded by the Army, while the 240-km international border is secured by the Border Security Force (BSF) to prevent infiltration, smuggling, and drone activity from across the border.

Anti-Drone Measures and Security Operations

Security forces have deployed hi-tech anti-drone systems along the LoC and international border to curb the dropping of arms, cash, and narcotics by terror outfits operating from across the border.

Officials said drone activity has reduced after deployment of these systems, though occasional attempts still continue.
