Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Son Prateek Yadav’s Funeral to Be Held Today in Lucknow

Lucknow: The last rites of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, will be performed on Thursday at around 11 a.m. at Baikunth Dham in Bhainsakund, Lucknow.

Before the funeral, Prateek Yadav’s mortal remains were kept at his residence on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow to allow relatives, supporters and well-wishers to pay their last respects.

Prateek Yadav, 38, who was the half-brother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, died in Lucknow on Wednesday morning following a prolonged illness.

The information regarding the last rites was shared by Aparna Yadav through a post on X on Wednesday night. In her message, she requested people to attend the funeral and pay tribute to Prateek Yadav.

According to the post-mortem report, Prateek Yadav died due to sudden cardiac arrest caused by massive pulmonary thromboembolism a severe medical condition in which blood clots travel from the legs or pelvis to the lungs, blocking blood flow and resulting in cardiorespiratory collapse.

The report stated that cardiac and pulmonary thromboembolic samples have been preserved for histopathological examination, while viscera samples have been sent for chemical analysis.

Civil Hospital Director Dr G.P. Gupta said doctors were rushed to Prateek Yadav’s residence around 5 a.m. after receiving information about his deteriorating condition. He was later taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead at approximately 5:55 a.m.

The post-mortem examination also revealed six ante-mortem injury marks on different parts of his body, including the chest, right arm, forearm, elbow and left wrist. Doctors clarified that the injuries occurred before death and were of varying ages, with some estimated to be 5–7 days old and others around one day old.

Authorities are continuing further medical examination procedures related to the case.
