Pratyusha Banerjee Suicide Case: Bombay HC Discharges Rahul Raj Singh, Brings Relief After 10 Years

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has discharged TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee’s former boyfriend and actor-producer, Rahul Raj Singh, from the alleged abetment to suicide case. This decision comes nearly 10 years after Pratyusha’s death.

Pratyusha Banerjee gained recognition for her role as Anandi in the TV show Balika Vadhu. She died on April 1, 2016, at her home in Goregaon, Mumbai. Rahul Raj Singh was charged with abetment to suicide and other charges in the case.

Court Considers Last Conversation Important

The High Court also considered a recorded conversation between Pratyusha and Rahul shortly before her death. Rahul argued that the conversation showed that he had tried to dissuade Pratyusha from taking any drastic steps and had asked her to come to meet him.

The High Court granted Rahul Raj Singh’s discharge petition. Previously, in 2023, the Sessions Court had rejected his discharge petition.

Pratyusha’s parents had accused Rahul of physically, emotionally, and financially harassing their daughter. Rahul Raj Singh has denied these allegations.
