President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Kerala for four-day visit

Thiruvananthapuram: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Kerala on Tuesday for a four-day visit, which includes a pilgrimage to Sabarimala.

She was received at the airport tarmac by Kerala Governor Rajendra V. Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and other senior officials. From the airport, she proceeded to Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor, where she will spend the day.

Sabarimala Pilgrimage on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the President will visit Sabarimala, flying by Air Force helicopter from the airport to Nilakkal, expected to arrive at 10:20 a.m. From Nilakkal, she will travel by road to Pamba.

After performing rituals at the Pamba Ganapathi Temple, she will ascend the hill in a special Gurkha jeep, bypassing the regular convoy, following the traditional Swami Ayyappan route. She will be accompanied by the Governor and her spouse.

The President is expected to reach Sannidhanam by noon for darshan and will stay at the Devaswom Guest House, returning to Pamba at 3 p.m. after lunch. Tightened security arrangements are in place for the visit.

After returning, the Governor will host a dinner reception at Raj Bhavan in the evening.

Itinerary for October 23–24

• October 23 (Thursday):

  • 10 a.m.: Unveiling of former President K.R. Narayanan’s statue at Raj Bhavan.

  • 12 noon: Participation in the centenary celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi in Sivagiri.

  • 3:30 p.m.: Helicopter to Palai to inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of St. Thomas College.

  • Overnight stay in Kumarakom.

• October 24 (Friday):

  • Attendance at the centenary celebrations of St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam as the chief guest.

  • Return to Delhi by 4 p.m.
