President Droupadi Murmu to Begin Two-Day Visit to Manipur from December 11

Imphal: Manipur is witnessing hectic preparations ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit on December 11–12, with government departments and agencies coordinating to ensure smooth execution of the scheduled events.

Upon her arrival on Thursday, the President will receive a guard of honour before visiting the historic Imphal Polo Ground (Mapal Kangjeibung) to witness a polo exhibition match.

The venue recently hosted the 15th Manipur International Polo Tournament.

Civic Reception, Inaugurations and Key Development Projects on Agenda

On Thursday evening, President Murmu will attend a civic reception organised by the Manipur government at the City Convention Centre in Imphal, where she will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several developmental projects, highlighting the Centre’s continued focus on the Northeast. Roads along the 7-km stretch from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex are being repaired, repainted, and decorated with flags and welcome banners for the occasion.

Tribute to Women Warriors and Visit to Senapati on December 12

On December 12, the President will pay homage to the brave women participants of the historic Nupi Lal movements of 1904 and 1939 at the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex. Later in Senapati district, she will address a public gathering and inaugurate multiple development projects.

Visit Follows PM Modi’s Recent Push for Manipur’s Development

This will be the second major visit to Manipur within three months, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s September 13 trip. During his visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated 17 projects worth ₹1,200 crore and laid the foundation for 19 others valued at ₹7,300 crore across the state. He emphasised that a “Viksit Manipur” will further strengthen the vision of “Viksit Bharat”.
