President Murmu Confers Honorary Doctorate on Dr. Vikramjeet Singh Sahni for Social Service

Amritsar: Rajya Sabha MP and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni was honored with an honorary doctorate by the President of India during the Golden Jubilee Convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Recognition for Outstanding Social Contribution

The honorary doctorate was awarded to Dr. Sahni in recognition of his impactful social initiatives in Punjab, particularly in flood relief and rehabilitation, drug de-addiction, and large-scale employment generation and skill development. During the recent floods in Punjab, Dr. Sahni played a pivotal role in relief and rehabilitation efforts. He has been actively working towards a drug-free Punjab and has established world-class skill centers to provide thousands of youths with employable skills, contributing significantly to livelihood restoration and youth empowerment.

University and Governor Laud His Efforts

On the occasion, Punjab Governor and Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, praised Dr. Sahni’s service to society, saying, “Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni has demonstrated that compassion, vision, and effective execution can bring about meaningful social change. His work during the Punjab floods, his unwavering commitment to drug de-addiction, and his efforts to provide dignified employment to over 5,000 youths leave a lasting impact and serve as an inspiration for public life.”

Expressing his gratitude to the President for the honor, Dr. Sahni said he is deeply humbled and overwhelmed. He added that this recognition inspires him to work with even greater dedication towards building a drug-free Punjab, empowered youth with employment opportunities, and strong, self-reliant communities.
