In a rare gesture, she undertook the traditional 21‑kilometre parikrama of the sacred hill, covering the entire circumambulation route in a golf cart symbolic of her respect for the religious heritage of the Braj region. This event marked her as the first President of India to carry out the parikrama at this revered site.

Goverdhan Parvat carries deep spiritual meaning within Hindu tradition, particularly connected with Lord Krishna and the legend of Govardhan Puja. The full loop, traditionally walked by devotees as an act of faith and penance, is roughly 21 kilometres and includes important stops like Danghati Temple, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar and Jatipura. Each of these places holds centuries‑old religious significance for pilgrims who believe that circumambulating the hill brings blessings, spiritual merit and peace.

 The parikrama journey in a golf cart

Given the long distance and the demands of senior leadership engagement, President Murmu chose to complete the full parikrama in a golf cart a practical yet respectful approach accommodating both the physical route and ceremonial significance. Security and local organisers ensured that her movement remained smooth, coordinating with temple committees and district authorities to maintain the sanctity of the journey. The decision also allowed her to interact briefly with select devotees along the path, observing traditional practices and temple rituals.

After completing the parikrama, the President was slated to offer prayers at Danghati Temple, one of the key temples along the circuit.
