President Murmu Marks 5 Billion Meals by Akshaya Patra

New Delhi: Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday launched celebrations to commemorate 5 billion meals served by the Akshaya Patra Foundation, calling it a remarkable achievement in advancing education and child welfare.

Emphasis on Nutrition and Education

The theme of the event was ‘From a Well-Nourished and Well-Educated India to a Developed India,’ reflecting the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’ The President said that children must receive quality education, nutritious food, and a safe environment for their holistic development.

Shared Responsibility

The President said that a bright future for children is not just the responsibility of the government, but the joint responsibility of every section of society—teachers, parents, social organizations, and the corporate sector.

An organization serving for 25 years

For the past 25 years, the Akshaya Patra Foundation has been working to reduce malnutrition and promote education among children through mid-day meals. On this occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan also described this initiative as important in strengthening the country’s human capital.
