President Murmu offers prayers at Dwarkadhish Temple during Gujarat Visit

Dwarka: President Droupadi Murmu visited the Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat on Saturday, offering prayers for the well-being and prosperity of all, as part of her ongoing three-day tour of the state.

The spiritual visit forms a key part of her itinerary before she proceeds to Ahmedabad to attend the 71st convocation ceremony of Gujarat Vidyapith as the chief guest. Founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920, Gujarat Vidyapith continues to promote Gandhian values and education, making the President’s presence especially significant.

“President Droupadi Murmu had Darshan at Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat and offered prayers for the well-being and prosperity of all,” tweeted the President’s Office.

Spiritual and Cultural Engagements

On Friday, President Murmu visited the Somnath Temple, where she performed darshan and puja, and paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and a key architect of national integration.

Later in the day, she travelled to Gir National Park and interacted with members of the local tribal community at Sasan Gir. She commended their nature-friendly lifestyle, describing it as a model for sustainable living and a source of inspiration.

Focus on Tribal Welfare and Education

During her interaction, President Murmu encouraged tribal families to prioritise education, noting that the Siddi tribal community has achieved a literacy rate of over 72 per cent. She highlighted the Central Government’s various initiatives for tribal welfare and urged residents to leverage these schemes while also raising awareness in their communities.

She emphasised the importance of tribal inclusion in India’s development, stating, “With active participation from our tribal brothers and sisters, we are working towards a just and respectful society where their traditions are preserved and rights protected. This is crucial to making India a developed nation by the year 2047.”
