President Murmu returns to Delhi after winter sojourn in Hyderabad

President Droupadi Murmu has returned to New Delhi following a five-day winter sojourn at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad, where she engaged in official duties and hosted events as part of her annual southern retreat.

Winter Retreat at Rashtrapati Nilayam

President Murmu had arrived in Hyderabad earlier this month to spend her customary winter sojourn at the Rashtrapati Nilayam, the presidential retreat located in Secunderabad. During her stay, she hosted an “At Home” reception at the venue, attended by senior dignitaries including the Telangana Governor, the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and other prominent officials and guests.

The winter sojourn provided the President with the opportunity to interact with local leaders and citizens while also performing ceremonial and official functions in the southern region. Such retreats are a tradition for the President of India, allowing engagement with diverse parts of the country and conducting official business outside the national capital.

Engagements and Activities During Sojourn

During her time in Hyderabad, President Murmu’s schedule included formal gatherings and events that brought together representatives from various sectors. The “At Home” event was marked by the presence of senior state and national personalities, reflecting the importance of the presidential winter retreat in fostering community and governmental engagement.

Such visits are also an opportunity to showcase Rashtrapati Nilayam’s role as an important venue for presidential conduct of official and public interactions in the southern part of the country.  

Return to Capital and Next Steps

After concluding her winter stay, President Murmu returned to New Delhi to resume duties at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Her return comes as official work continues in the national capital, where the President oversees constitutional responsibilities and participates in state and national functions.

The completion of the Hyderabad sojourn adds another chapter to her annual engagements across different regions of India, underlining the ceremonial and unifying role of the presidency.
