President Murmu’s Jalandhar visit cancelled, flight cancelled due to bad weather

Jalandhar: President Draupadi Murmu’s planned visit to Jalandhar on Friday has been cancelled due to bad weather. According to officials, the decision was taken after the President’s flight was cancelled.

The President was scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, as the chief guest today. The institute is holding its 21st convocation today, and President Murmu was scheduled to attend the event.

However, the President’s visit could not take place as scheduled. According to information provided by a senior official, the President’s flight was cancelled due to bad weather. President Draupadi Murmu travels on Air India One, and due to the prevailing weather conditions, her flight from Amritsar to Jalandhar was not possible.

Sources stated that the flight from Amritsar to Jalandhar was canceled due to extreme bad weather, following which the President’s visit to Jalandhar was officially canceled.

This was also confirmed on the NIT campus, where preparations for the convocation had already been made. According to reports, the chair reserved for President Draupadi Murmu on the stage, reserved for the chief guest, was removed by the institute administration, making it clear that the President would not attend the event.

The convocation ceremony at NIT Jalandhar is being held as scheduled, but without the President’s presence.
