Mumbai: Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli on Saturday unveiled the first look of Priyanka Chopra as Mandakini from his upcoming film Varanasi, coinciding with the actress’ birthday. Sharing two contrasting character posters on social media, Rajamouli described her role as a blend of “grace” and “fire.”

The filmmaker captioned the post: “Grace when she smiles. Fire when she doesn’t. Mandakini… @PriyankaChopra in #Varanasi.”

A glimpse of Mandakini

The first image showcases Priyanka in a fierce avatar, dressed in a black corset-style outfit with a high tousled bun and an intense expression, hinting at the character’s powerful side.

In contrast, the second still captures a lighter side of Mandakini, with Priyanka smiling while jumping mid-air in a white crop top, black cargo pants and a beige jacket, reflecting the warmth and grace of the character.

Priyanka’s first collaboration with Rajamouli

Varanasi marks Priyanka Chopra’s first collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role as Rudhra, while Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the antagonist Kumbha.

Initially referred to as GlobeTrotter, the film’s official title, Varanasi, was unveiled at a grand event held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad last year.

The highly anticipated film is scheduled to hit theatres in April next year.
