Mumbai: Global icon Priyanka Chopra has praised former beauty queen and actress Namrata Shirodkar on social media. After an old pageant video of Namrata went viral on social media, Priyanka called her a “queen.”

Priyanka shared a throwback video from Namrata’s beauty pageant days on her social media account. In the video, Namrata is seen confidently introducing herself on the Miss Universe 1993 stage. She represented India in the competition and placed among the top six finalists. Wearing a sash with “India” written on it, Namrata appears composed and impressive. Sharing the video, Priyanka wrote, “Once a queen, always a queen @namratashirodkar @urstrulymahesh”

This is being considered a loving message from one beauty queen to another. Priyanka won the Miss World 2000 title. Both Namrata and Priyanka began their careers in beauty pageants and later made a name for themselves in Bollywood.

Priyanka to star in S.S. Rajamouli’s film “Varanasi”

On the work front, Priyanka will be seen in renowned director S.S. Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film “Varanasi.” She will also star alongside Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, Namrata Shirodkar’s husband.

Priyanka visited Hyderabad in November for the film’s first look launch, where she met Mahesh Babu, Namrata, and their families.

Namrata chose family after marriage

While Priyanka remains active in the acting world, Namrata stepped away from films after marrying Mahesh Babu in 2005. Mahesh Babu stated in several interviews that he wanted a life partner who prioritized family. Namrata supported this decision and focused on her family.

Namrata, who has worked in films like Pukar, Vaastav, and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, married Mahesh Babu on February 10, 2005, in Mumbai. The couple has two children—son Gautam Krishna and daughter Sitara.
