‘Change Angle of Heart, Not Phone Camera’: Priyanka Gandhi’s Dig at PM Modi During Paper Leak Bill Debate

New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Lok Sabha debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, saying the government needs to change the “angle of heart” instead of the “angle of a phone camera” to connect with Gen Z.

Participating in the debate, the Wayanad MP criticised the government’s response to student protests over alleged examination irregularities and said that removing protesters from roads would not resolve the questions being raised by them.

Priyanka Questions Government’s Response to Student Protests

Priyanka Gandhi said the government should improve its intentions and work towards restoring public trust instead of focusing only on public relations.

She demanded major changes in the education system, including expert involvement, job creation and expansion of medical colleges, saying that merely forming committees would not solve the concerns of students.

Raises Questions Over Paper Leaks and Police Action

Speaking on the proposed anti-paper leak legislation, Priyanka Gandhi alleged that a similar law introduced in 2024 had not resulted in the conviction of any accused so far.

She questioned why technologies such as face recognition were being used against students while similar measures were not being applied against those involved in paper leak cases.

The Congress leader also raised concerns over alleged use of force during student protests and questioned who authorised the use of pellet guns and AK-47s against demonstrators.

‘Students Want Accountability, Not PR’: Priyanka

Priyanka Gandhi said students were demanding accountability and action against those responsible for irregularities, claiming that the examination system had failed to protect their future.

She alleged that several paper leak incidents had occurred over the years but those responsible had not faced strict punishment.

The Congress MP also criticised the welcome given to former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Parliament, saying efforts focused on changing narratives would not address the concerns of young people.
