Shimla: Students Federation of India (SFI) activists have created ruckus in Sanjoli College Shimla over fee hike. Today is the second consecutive day that SFI activists raised slogans against the principal and professors in the college campus and also argued with them.
The atmosphere remained tense for the second day on Saturday at the Center of Excellence College Sanjauli, Shimla. The workers of the student organization SFI again staged dharna in the college campus on Saturday. In the presence of police, the students had a heated argument with the principal and the professor. The students raised strong slogans against the professor who got into a scuffle and the college administration.
In fact, last Friday, SFI workers were protesting in the college campus against the increase in hostel fees and opening of private cafes in the campus. SFI Sanjauli College Unit President Pravesh Sharma said that a professor stopped them from protesting peacefully and tore the shirt of the campus secretary.
Students protesting without permission: principal
College Principal Bharti Bhangra said that the cafe has been opened on the basis of tender in the college campus. The cafe has been given to the person who paid the lowest rate. She said that the students were protesting without permission. Therefore, the teacher must have stopped them. She is not aware of any scuffle between the students and the teacher.
College management threaten the students: Pravesh
Student leader Pravesh Sharma said that when he goes to the principal with the demands of the students, the professors threaten and intimidate them. Even yesterday, the SFI campus secretary was caught by the collar and his shirt was torn.
He said that SFI is protesting against the fees hike and opening of a cafe in the campus by the college administration. He said, the cafe in the campus has been given to the relative of the professor who got into a scuffle. Because of this, the professors are repeatedly behaving like this with the SFI students.
