Uttarakhand government seeks more central forces to maintain law & order in Haldwani

Curfew remains in force in Banbhoopura area but has been lifted from the outer areas of the town. Nearly 1,100 security personnel are already deployed in the town.

Haldwani The Uttarakhand government do not want to take any chances in the violence hit Haldwani. It has sought additional central forces for Haldwani. It is necessary to mention here that violence had erupted on February 8 after the demolition of an “illegal” madrassa.

The officials said that four companies of the Central Paramilitary Forces have been sought from the Home Ministry to maintain law and order in Banbhoolpura area where the violence had erupted.

The requisition was sent to the Centre by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi.
