    Protesters set fire to Parliament building in Indonesia, 3 people died, 5 injured

    Makassar, Aug 30: On Friday night, protesters set fire to the regional parliament building in Indonesia’s Makassar city. In this incident, 3 people died and 5 people were injured.

    Makassar City Council Secretary Rahmat Mappatoba accused protesters of setting the building on fire. Some people were injured when they tried to jump off the building after the fire broke out.

    Big demonstrations have been taking place in many cities in Indonesia since Friday. In fact, on Friday, a police vehicle crushed a delivery driver traveling on a motorcycle, causing his death.

    After this, people intensified their protests against government officials and the facilities provided to them. The protesters threw stones and firecrackers at the police and government buildings, while the police used tear gas to stop them.

    Seven officials have been detained in connection with the driver’s death. According to reports, more than 200 people have been injured in these protests. President Prabowo Subianto has appealed to the people to maintain peace. He ordered an investigation into the matter and met the family of the deceased driver.
