PRTC Management Gets Immediate Relief from High Court; Employees’ hopes of being regularized Deferred Until August

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued an important order in the ongoing regularization dispute between Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and its employees. A double bench headed by Justice Sanjay Vashisht and Justice Ramesh Chandra Dimri has directed to maintain the status quo regarding the services of the private respondents (employees).

    What is the whole matter?

Single Bench Decision: Earlier, on April 22, 2026, the single judge of the High Court, while giving a verdict in favor of the employees, had ordered the PRTC to regularize these employees within 6 weeks. If this does not happen, then they will automatically be considered regular.

PRTC filed a ‘Letters Patent Appeal’ (LPA-1556-2026) before the double bench against this decision. Advocates (Abhilash Gaind and Rakesh Rai) appearing for PRTC argued in the court that another similar case related to regularization (PRTC vs. Jasdeep Singh and others) is already pending in the court.

    Current order of the court
The double bench of the High Court while hearing the case has fixed the next date for hearing on 31 August 2026. The court has ordered that:
The concerned department should maintain the current status quo of the services of the employees. The next hearing of this case will now be combined with another similar case (LPA-1410-2026) on 31 August 2026.

This order has provided temporary relief from the orders to immediately regularize the PRTC management for the time being, while the next decision on the status of the services of the employees will be in the month of August.
