‘Psychopath with Violent Past’: Fresh Details Emerge on Accused in Chilling Delhi Rape-Murder Case

New Delhi: South Delhi’s Kailash Hills area was shaken by the brutal rape and murder of a 22-year-old civil services aspirant, daughter of a senior government officer. The accused, Rahul Meena, allegedly entered the house on Wednesday morning and attacked the woman after she refused to give him money. Police said he later sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious.

Accused Had History of Aggressive Behaviour

Investigators revealed that Rahul Meena had a violent past and was known for aggressive behaviour in his native village. Officials said he showed psychopathic tendencies and had a history of violent conduct, raising serious concerns about his mental state. Police are now planning a detailed psychological assessment as part of the ongoing investigation.

Entered House Using Smart Key, Asked for Money

Rahul had earlier worked as domestic help for the family and knew about the smart key kept outside the house for helpers to enter. He reportedly entered the home around 6:39 am and went straight to the victim’s room. When he demanded money to clear his debts, the woman refused and tried to call her father. In anger, he strangled her using a charger wire and attacked her with a bottle and lamp, leaving her unconscious.

    Cash, Jewellery Looted After Crime

Police said the accused then raped the victim while she was still alive but unconscious. He later tried to use her fingerprints to open a safe but failed, and finally broke it open using a heavy object. He fled with ₹1.5–2 lakh in cash and jewellery worth nearly ₹10 lakh. Postmortem confirmed that the victim died due to strangulation after a violent assault, with multiple injuries found on her body.
