Fiancée, Lover Conspired to Kill Pune Man at Lohagad Fort, Say Police

Pune: What initially appeared to be a tragic accident during a trekking trip has turned into a murder investigation, with Pune police alleging that a man was killed at Lohagad Fort in a pre-planned conspiracy involving his fiancée and her alleged lover.

The victim, identified as Ketan Vishal Agarwal, reportedly fell nearly 400 feet into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18, while on a trek with his fiancée and friends. He was initially believed to have died in an accidental fall while taking photographs.

Accident turns into murder probe

According to police, investigation findings later revealed that the incident was not accidental but a planned murder. The Pune Rural Police said evidence and statements collected during the probe pointed towards a conspiracy hatched by the fiancée and her alleged lover.

The duo has been arrested, and a case of murder has been registered.

‘Failed first attempt’ before final act

Officials further stated that the accused had allegedly attempted to kill the victim earlier but failed. They then allegedly carried out the plan during the Lohagad Fort visit, where the victim was pushed into the gorge.

Investigation underway

Police said the case is being investigated further to determine the exact sequence of events, motive behind the crime, and whether any other individuals were involved in the conspiracy.

The incident has shocked Pune’s business and social circles, as the victim was set to be married later this year.
