The Aam Aadmi Party adopted two models to give its politics a meaningful public service face. One was the education model, which aimed to provide quality education to even the poorest children by raising the standards of government schools, and at a lower cost than private schools. However, the more popular model has been the medical model, which is based on the principle of providing medical care to every person by opening Mohalla Clinics everywhere. Many tests and medicines are available free of cost in these Mohalla Clinics. New developments indicate that the medical model has been very successful under the Aam Aadmi Party’s rule in Punjab. Initially, the aim, as stated by the Chief Minister in his speeches, was to open at least 1,000 Mohalla Clinics. This was successful, and it was realized that this performance was lacking in Doaba, so some new Mohalla Clinics should be opened in Hoshiarpur. Currently, 106 Mohalla Clinics have been opened in Hoshiarpur. Gradually, the entire Doaba region will be filled with Mohalla Clinics. Currently, 1,245 Mohalla Clinics are being opened in Punjab, providing free diagnosis and treatment for common people. This scheme is being expanded further. Some clinics will also have specialist doctors who will be able to perform surgeries. One complaint was that these Mohalla Clinics typically diagnose illnesses after a basic examination. However, to address this complaint, services have been expanded, and it is claimed that 477 types of tests will be provided free of charge and 107 types of diseases can be treated. The counters at Mohalla Clinics will no longer struggle with shortages of medicines; instead, medicines will be available at the clinic itself. This is undoubtedly a great facility, as patients can receive treatment at their nearest Mohalla Clinics instead of having to travel to larger hospitals. According to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, more than 10 million people have received treatment services, and this number is constantly increasing. We believe that this Mohalla Clinic model is very convenient for the common man. The benefits of this scheme should be extended to every region, as it has recently been expanded to the Doaba region. The medical model of the Punjab government and the Aam Aadmi Party is worthy of emulation by other states, as affordable education and quality healthcare that are easy on the pocket are the primary needs of every citizen.
