Punjab and Haryana High Court Grants Bail to MLA Raman Arora and ATP Sukhdev Vashisht

Jalandhar: On September 3, 2025, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted regular bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Jalandhar Central, Raman Arora, and Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Sukhdev Vashisht in a corruption case.

Both individuals, who were arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on May 23 and May 14, 2025, respectively, for their alleged involvement in an extortion racket, received bail following a hearing of their petitions on the same day.

While Arora and Vashisht secured bail, the court deferred the decision on the bail plea of Raju Madaan, a close relative of Arora, scheduling the next hearing for September 17, 2025. The trio was implicated in a scheme involving the issuance of unauthorized construction notices to extort bribes from builders in Jalandhar.
