A violent clash erupted between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress workers celebrating the block committee election victory in Ludhiana, Punjab. The Sadar police station has registered an FIR against 18 Congress workers, including 6 named individuals and 12 unidentified persons. The police registered the case after a video of the firing incident surfaced, allowing them to identify the attackers.
Police conducted raids late into the night to apprehend the accused involved in the shooting. The accused have been identified as former Sarpanch Jasvir, Ajayveer, Udayveer, Sarpanch Ninda, Tajinder Singh alias Ladi, Panch Pooja, Harpal Singh alias Babbu, and 12 unknown individuals.
Congress leader seen challenging AAP leader in a video
The AAP blamed the Congress for the clash. A video of the incident and the firing has emerged, showing a Congress leader with a group of people outside a house, being challenged by AAP workers.
This led to an argument, followed by stone-pelting and then gunfire. Angry AAP workers blocked the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road near the Marado police post last night in protest.
Sukhmeet Singh Khanna, who won the block committee election for the AAP, said, “I won the election from Jasdev Nagar. The Congress goons couldn’t accept this. Raja Warring, his family, Kuldeep Vaid, his family, and the Bains brothers—everyone tried their best for this seat, but they still lost. Now they are resorting to direct gunfire.”
