Amritsar: The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered two AK-47 rifles and magazines from the India-Pakistan International Border. A pistol and 10 live cartridges were also recovered. These were all hidden in a packet.
Initial investigation revealed that the consignment was sent from Pakistan and was intended to carry out a terrorist plot in Punjab during the festive season. The recovered weapons have been handed over to the State Operations Cell in Amritsar.
According to information received from the BSF, technical and physical monitoring revealed that attempts were being made to smuggle a cache of weapons into India from across the border, with the intention of carrying out a terrorist plot in Punjab.

Following this, the BSF team conducted a search operation beyond the border fence near Mehndipur village. During this, BSF soldiers found a suspicious package, which they searched and recovered weapons.
The BSF handed over these weapons to the SSOC, whose initial investigation revealed that the consignment was sent by Pakistan-based terrorists, who were planning to carry out a major terrorist attack.
The BSF said every suspicious activity along the border is being closely monitored and any attempt at terror or arms smuggling will not be allowed to succeed.
