    Punjab Cabinet Approves 11 Key Decisions, ‘Hamare Ram’ Shows to Be Held in 40 Cities

    Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Monday approved 11 important decisions during a cabinet meeting. One of the major announcements was the staging of the play Hamare Ram, based on the life of Lord Rama, in 40 cities across the state. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shared the details at a press conference after the meeting.

    ‘Hamare Ram’ Play to Be Staged Across Punjab

    The cabinet gave approval to organise shows of Hamare Ram at 40 locations in Punjab. Well-known artists from across the country will perform in these shows. The government said the performances will help spread positive values in society. A special committee will decide the final venues and arrangements.

    Public Land Allotment Rules Simplified

    To speed up the process of allotting public land, the government has changed the rules. Now, a committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) will decide on the allotment of municipal land for public purposes. Earlier, the process took several months due to approvals at multiple levels.

    Funds for Unpaved Roads

    Local bodies will now receive money for kutcha (unpaved) roads that have become part of cities and developed colonies. These roads earlier did not generate any revenue for the government. The new system is already in place in GMADA and GLADA areas.

    One-Time Extension for Housing Projects

    Under the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (PAPR) Act, colonisers will now get only a one-time extension of three years to complete their projects. For this, they will have to pay ₹75,000 per acre. The move aims to ensure projects are completed on time.

    FAR Charges Reduced

    The cabinet reduced charges on Floor Area Ratio (FAR) obtained through e-auction. The rate has been cut from 50 percent to 25 percent, which will provide relief to people seeking permission for additional construction.

    Four Hospitals Shifted to Baba Farid University

    Four hospitals—Civil Hospital Badal, District Hospital Khadoor Sahib, CHC Jalalabad, and Tertiary Care Hospital Fazilka—have been placed under Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. These hospitals were earlier run directly by the state government.

    1,000 New Yoga Trainers to Be Recruited

    The government approved the recruitment of 1,000 new yoga trainers under the CM Yogashala project. During eight months of training, they will be paid ₹8,000 per month. After training, their salary will be ₹25,000 per month.

    Civil Services Eligibility Rules Clarified

    The cabinet decided that candidates applying for Punjab Civil Services must complete their educational qualifications by the last date of application. This move is expected to reduce court cases related to eligibility disputes.

    New Service Rules for Excise Department

    Service rules for Superintendent Grade-I posts in the Excise and Taxation Department have been approved. These rules were pending for a long time.

    Sugarcane Price Fixed for Farmers

    The Punjab government approved a rate of ₹68.50 per quintal to be paid to sugarcane farmers by private sugar mills.

    Boost for Horticulture Sector

    A Japan-supported project to expand the horticulture sector has been approved. The government aims to increase horticulture coverage from 6 percent to 15 percent over the next 10 years, benefiting farmers across Punjab.

    Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said these decisions will help improve governance, speed up administrative work, support farmers, and promote cultural activities in the state.
