Dense Fog Alert in Punjab and Chandigarh; Temperature Above Normal

Chandigarh: Parts of Punjab and Chandigarh are likely to witness dense fog on February 27, especially during the morning hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the region. However, the weather will remain dry.

Temperature Rises Above Normal

In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature increased by 0.4°C and is now 4°C above normal.

The highest temperature of 28.6°C was recorded in Ferozepur.

Across most places in Punjab:

• Maximum temperature remained between 25°C and 28°C

• Minimum temperature was 2.5°C above normal

• Minimum temperature is expected to stay between 9.4°C and 14°C

Visibility Drops Below 50 Metres

According to the weather department, dense fog was recorded in Amritsar and Halwara on Wednesday. Visibility ranged between zero and 50 metres in some areas.

Due to poor visibility, an accident took place near Patiala–Patran road in the morning. A bus collided with a car. One person died, while his wife and son were injured. The bus conductor was also hurt.

Weather to Remain Dry Till March 4

The Meteorological Department said that Punjab will witness dry weather till March 4. Morning and evening cold conditions will continue.

North-western winds will blow during the day, so even if the sun comes out, the heat will not be very strong. However, temperatures are expected to rise gradually.

Weather officials said that heat may increase further by Holi this year.

Western Disturbance May Affect Region

A new western disturbance may affect the region till March 2.

According to Surender Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature may rise by 2–4°C gradually over the next seven days.

The overall weather condition in the state will remain clear and dry in the coming days.
