Yellow alert for heatwave in Punjab-Chandigarh today temp up

Severe heat is occurring in Punjab and Chandigarh as well. During the day, it feels like fire is raining from the sky. The temperature in five districts is exceeding 39 degrees. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for heatwaves today as well. Meanwhile, the night is also expected to remain hot.

Such weather will continue in the state until April 25. From April 26, there is a possibility of rain in some places. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in the state has increased by 0.1 degrees. It is now 1.9 degrees higher than normal. Bathinda and Faridkot recorded 41.6 degrees.

Weather conditions are poor in 7 districts

According to the meteorological department, today in Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, and Patiala, heatwaves are likely in some locations. In this case, the temperature in different areas of these districts may be much higher than normal, and hot winds may blow.

From April 23, a new western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region. Its impact may cause changes in the weather in the coming days. Meanwhile, the upper atmospheric cyclonic circulation formed at an altitude of 3.1 kilometers over Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding areas has now weakened, reducing its effect for the time being.

Temperature above 35 degrees in 21 districts

In the state, the maximum temperature exceeded 35 degrees in a total of 21 districts, while in 4 districts it was above 39 degrees. The highest temperature was recorded at 41.6 degrees at Bathinda Airport and Faridkot. In addition, Patiala recorded 39.3 degrees, Bhakra Dam 39.2 degrees, Ludhiana 39.0 degrees, and Chandigarh 38.0 degrees.

Amritsar recorded 37.6 degrees, Pathankot 37.6 degrees, Gurdaspur 37.5 degrees, Fazilka 37.5 degrees, and Patiala (Observatory) 37.3 degrees. In other districts, the temperature remained between 36 and 37 degrees.

Possibility of heatwave until 24th

According to the Director of the Meteorological Department, Surendra Pal, the weather is likely to remain dry for the next 5 days. After that, light rain may occur at some places in the state. During this period, the maximum temperature is expected to gradually increase by 3 to 4 degrees over the next 5 days. After that, there will be no major change in temperature. On April 24, a heatwave is possible in some areas.

The weather will be like this for 2 days

April 23 – In most parts of the state, a heatwave may occur at some places. However, such a situation is not expected in Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur.

April 24 – Except for Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur, a heatwave is possible at some places throughout Punjab.
