Punjab-Chandigarh Weather Update: Rain expected in 11 districts today

Chandigarh: Clear weather has been observed in Punjab and Chandigarh for the past two days, leading to a rise in temperatures. Over the past 24 hours, temperatures have risen by approximately 2.1 degrees, reaching near normal levels. Rupnagar recorded a temperature of 28.7°C and Chandigarh 28.1°C.

Rain likely in these districts today

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, and Bathinda today, March 23rd. However, no rain alert has been issued.

Impact of Western Disturbance

The western disturbance, which is affecting the weather, is currently active in the upper atmosphere. Light winds are blowing over Rajasthan and surrounding areas, while a strong upper-level jet stream is also active. Around March 26th, a new, weak western disturbance may bring light rain and increased cloud cover to northwest India, especially Punjab.

Temperatures to Rise by 4-6 Degrees

According to Meteorological Department Director Surendra Pal, light to moderate rain is possible in some parts of the state on March 23rd, 25th, 26th, and 28th. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by 4 to 7 degrees over the next four days, after which they will stabilize.
