Punjab & Chandigarh Weather: Temperatures to Reach 35°C, 7°C Above Normal

Amritsar: The heat has begun to take hold in Punjab and Chandigarh in early March. Over the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature was recorded 5.8 degrees Celsius above normal, although a slight drop of 0.1 degrees Celsius was also recorded.

Amritsar Records Lowest Minimum Temperature

Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the entire plains. According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures in northwest India, including Punjab and Chandigarh, are expected to rise by another 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next five days.

This could cause temperatures to be 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal. Maximum temperatures in Chandigarh and all districts of Punjab were recorded between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures hovered around 10 to 15 degrees Celsius.

According to the department, this situation is linked to the influence of a new western disturbance active over northwest India. This western disturbance may bring light rain or snowfall to the Himalayan region from March 4, but the weather is expected to remain mainly dry in Punjab and Chandigarh.

The temperature can reach up to 35 degrees.

The weather will remain dry until March 7th. There is no forecast of rain or snowfall. Maximum temperatures may increase and remain 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Strong winds of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour are expected through Tuesday, which could lead to dust storms. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 31 to 33 degrees Celsius on March 2, 32 to 34 degrees Celsius on March 3, and 33 to 35 degrees Celsius on March 4. Winds will blow from the northwest at 15 to 25 kilometers per hour.

Surface winds will blow

Chandigarh Meteorological Department Director Surendra Pal said that the weather is expected to remain dry in the state. There will be no significant change in maximum temperatures for the next four days, after which temperatures may gradually increase. Strong surface winds are also likely.
