Punjab Chief Minister felicitates Harmanpreet Kaur

Mohali, Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann graced the inaugural international match at the newly constructed Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali today, marking a historic moment for cricket in the state.

The event saw CM Mann felicitating Indian women’s cricket team captain and Punjab’s pride, Harmanpreet Kaur, who achieved a significant milestone by completing 150 Women’s ODI matches during the game, becoming the first woman cricketer from Punjab to reach this feat.

The match, a thrilling encounter, showcased the state-of-the-art facilities of the new PCA stadium, which is set to become a hub for cricket in North India.

CM Mann, addressing the crowd, praised Harmanpreet’s contribution to Indian cricket, stating, “Harmanpreet Kaur is an inspiration for Punjab’s youth, especially young women aspiring to excel in sports.”

He also commended the PCA for their efforts in promoting women’s cricket across the state.

Harmanpreet, visibly emotional, thanked the PCA and the state government for their support. “Playing my 150th ODI in my home state at this magnificent new stadium is a dream come true,” she said during the ceremony.

The entire PCA team was present, highlighting their commitment to nurturing cricket, particularly women’s cricket, through grassroots programs and infrastructure development.

The PCA’s initiatives include coaching camps, talent scouting, and tournaments aimed at encouraging young female cricketers in Punjab.

The new stadium, equipped with world-class facilities, is expected to host more international and domestic matches, further elevating the state’s cricketing profile.
