Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Holds High-Level Law and Order Review Meeting

Chandigarh: Following the completion of Operation Prahar 2.0, launched by the Punjab Police against gangsters and criminals, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is holding a high-level meeting today to discuss law and order. The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) are present. Also present are all police commissioners, IGs, DIGs, and SSPs.

During this meeting, the Chief Minister took feedback from officials on law and order issues. The operation is also being reviewed. A new strategy will be developed to combat crime. The Chief Minister has already made it clear that crime will not be tolerated at any cost. Meanwhile, the opposition continues to corner the government on the law and order issue.

Feedback Taken From Senior Police Officials

During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought feedback from senior officials on various law and order issues. He also reviewed the outcomes of Operation Prahar 2.0 and discussed the way forward.

A new strategy to combat crime will be formulated as the government has reiterated that it will not tolerate any criminal activity.

CM Orders Strict Vigilance, Reviews Key Campaigns

After the meeting, CM Bhagwant Mann posted on social media:

“Today in Chandigarh, I held a meeting with police commissioners from across the state, SSPs from all districts, and senior officers of the Punjab Police. Various law and order issues were discussed. I issued instructions to officials to maintain strict vigilance on the law and order situation. I also reviewed the ‘War Against Drugs’ and ‘War on Gangsters’ campaigns. Our government is committed to maintaining law and order in Punjab and ensuring the safety of the common people.”

High Court Pressure on Law and Order

This meeting comes amid growing pressure from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which has been taking a strict stance on the law and order situation in Punjab.

In two consecutive hearings, the High Court questioned the DGP, insisting that the police must show visible work on the ground instead of submitting lengthy replies.

A hearing is currently underway, and the government is required to file a response.

Opposition Criticizes Government Over Crime

Meanwhile, the opposition continues to corner the government over the rising crime rates in Punjab. The CM’s meeting is seen as a move to show stronger administrative control and reassure the public.
