Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann secures meet with President Murmu for May 5

The political atmosphere in Punjab has heated up following the defection of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs to the BJP. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has now secured an appointment for May 5 to meet with the President a meeting he will attend alone. Although he had expressed his intention to bring along the MLAs, permission for this was not granted. CM Mann himself shared this update via a post on his ‘X’ account.

AAP Meeting in Jalandhar 

Yesterday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convened a meeting in Jalandhar. Lasting over an hour, the gathering saw the MLAs come together in a show of strength. Every MLA appeared visibly irked when the topic of Raghav Chadha was raised. Sisodia himself departed the meeting, stating that the BJP is a “very despicable and deceitful party,” and urged everyone not to fall for its rhetoric.

CM Bhagwant Mann joined the meeting via video conferencing. During the session, the Chief Minister issued an indirect warning to the MLAs, citing the example of Sukhpal Khaira.

The CM remarked, “A river does not run dry just because a little turbulent water flows out of it. Khaira, too, labored under the misconception that AAP would cease to exist if he left the party. Yet, even without Khaira, we secured 92 MLAs. Those who have recently departed harbor the same delusion; however, it is perhaps for the best that they left when they did. The negativity that has spread as a result of their departure will be effectively dispelled over the coming months.”

Party sources claimed that over 80 MLAs attended the meeting. Some signed the attendance sheet and left shortly thereafter, as they had prior scheduled engagements.
