Chandigarh: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday condemned the Bhagwant Mann-led government over the alleged forcible cremation of Gulzar Singh, who died by suicide after allegedly being insulted by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
Warring described the alleged action as “criminally callous” and “arrogantly insensitive”, claiming that Gulzar Singh’s family was humiliated by the state government by having his last rites performed against their wishes.
Warring Accuses Mann, Cheema Over Gulzar Singh Case
In a statement, Warring alleged that Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was responsible for the circumstances that led to Gulzar Singh taking his own life.
He also accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of being responsible for the alleged forcible cremation of Gulzar Singh, saying the family was subjected to further humiliation at a time of grief.
“First an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was the cause for Gulzar Singh’s suicide. Now the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is responsible for humiliating the family by forcibly getting Gulzar Singh cremated, against the family’s wishes,” Warring alleged.
