Punjab continues to experience fog and cold wave today; zero visibility in several cities

People in Punjab and Chandigarh will continue to face dense fog and cold wave conditions today (Monday). This situation will persist during the morning and night. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding this. According to the weather department, some parts of the state may experience rain on December 31st and the first day of the new year. After that, the weather will clear up.

In the last 24 hours, both the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state have dropped. The minimum temperature has decreased by 1.1 degrees Celsius and is now close to the normal temperature. The lowest temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Faridkot.

During this period, a cold wave was recorded in Faridkot and Gurdaspur. Zero visibility was recorded in Amritsar, Adampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda. Visibility was recorded at 10 meters in Ludhiana, 20 meters in Patiala, and 50 meters in Bathinda. This has affected everything from road transport to flights.

Cold wave likely in 11 districts

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely in some places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Rupnagar, and Mohali today. While dense fog and cold wave conditions are likely in some places in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Firozpur, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda, and Hoshiarpur.

Meanwhile, dense to very dense fog and cold wave conditions are possible in Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana. Dense to very dense fog may occur in some places in Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala. The weather is expected to remain dry.
