Mohali: In the bribery case involving Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, middleman Krishanu Sharda will be produced before the CBI’s special court today after his four-day police remand ends. Meanwhile, DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s five-day police remand ends today, and Bhullar will be produced in court tomorrow. The CBI has collected substantial evidence from both parties.
After the CBI, the ED is now about to enter. The ED is arriving at the CBI office in Chandigarh on Tuesday, where it will take records of IAS and IPS officers, including DIG Bhullar, who have acquired benami properties.
The investigation into CBI DIG Bhullar and the middleman Krishanu Sharda, who was arrested with him, has so far yielded information about 50 Punjab officials. The CBI has also compiled a list of their names.
With the entry of ED, the problems of Punjab officers may increase because as soon as the records are taken, the ED team will send a notice and call these officers for questioning in the case of benami property.
Names of 14 officers were found during the interrogation of DIG:
CBI took 5 days remand for the first time after arresting DIG Bhullar. According to CBI sources, DIG Bhullar told that Punjab officers invest in property through Patiala-based property dealer Bhupinder Singh. During this interrogation, CBI came to know about 14 such officers, in which there were 10 IPS and 4 IAS officers. When CBI investigated, it came to know that out of 10 IPS, 8 are still posted on important posts in the field. Whereas 2 are in Punjab Police Academy. Apart from this, 4 IAS officers are somehow related to Mandi Gobindgarh. After this, CBI raided the property dealer’s premises in Patiala and Ludhiana and seized documents.
CBI Investigation Reveals 50 Officers
During the production of DIG Harcharan Bhullar and middleman Krishan Sharda in the CBI court, the investigation agency presented a progress report. In which it was said that during the previous remand, Krishan Sharda’s mobile and other electronic devices were searched. Through which it was found that he was involved in corrupt dealings of many officers. CBI told on the basis of data that Krishan, in connivance with the officers, not only influenced the investigation of cases but also did work ranging from transfer-posting, getting arms license made to registering FIR or getting an already registered FIR quashed. There are about 50 such officers, which also include IAS and IPS officers.
Names will be revealed as soon as ED takes the records
According to CBI sources, the ED will be handed over records related to the facts uncovered so far regarding the benami properties on Tuesday. This could reveal the names of officers whose links to DIG Bhullar, who was arrested in the Rs 5 lakh bribe case from a scrap dealer, and the middleman Krishanu Sharda during the investigation and interrogation.
