Punjab: Fifth standard certificate will not be an official document for date of birth

A major change has been made in the annual result card of class 5 for the academic session 2025-26 in Punjab. As per the orders issued by the Education Department, the date of birth column has been removed from the result card. Therefore, from the current academic year, the result card or certificate of class 5 will not be a proof of date of birth.

In this regard, instructions have been given to all the District Education Officers (Elementary Education) to implement this decision immediately.

The Education Department has taken this step on the basis of the instructions issued by the Punjab Government, according to which various government documents have been considered valid for verifying the date of birth of students.

These include passport, voter ID card, PAN card, driving license, birth certificate, 10th certificate and school leaving certificate. This decision is being considered an important step towards increasing transparency and authenticity in the education system.
