Heavy rains have affected all 23 districts and over 1200 villages of Punjab. Looking at the grappling situation, the Punjab Government has officially declared the state as ‘disaster hit’. This has activated emergency responses under the Disaster Management Act, 2025.
Heavy monsoon rains, coupled with the release of waters from dams, have caused extensive flooding in many districts of Punjab. With the situation still evolving, there is a grave concern that conditions may further deteriorate in the coming days.
