A special session of the Punjab Assembly has been called today at 11 o’clock. This one-day session is going to be significant. The government will propose to increase the minimum wage. Along with this, after 6 AAP Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP, there is a looming threat to the government, so the government might conduct a floor test today, so that it can run the government with certainty for 6 months.
According to sources, AAP has also issued a whip to all its MLAs to be present in the Assembly. Not only that, but the party has also called all the MLAs to the Assembly an hour earlier than the scheduled time. The party has made it clear that all MLAs should reach the Assembly on time.
In fact, amid rumors of a split in the party, all MPs and MLAs were called to Jalandhar two days ago. According to media reports, only 65 MLAs attended that meeting while the rest were absent. Meanwhile, all three Lok Sabha MPs also did not attend the meeting.
Wading’s Claim – 50 MLAs Will Leave the Party After Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP, continuous speculation has been going on that 30 to 35 MLAs are in contact with Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak. Congress leader Raja Wading has also claimed that 50 AAP MLAs will leave the party. Akali Dal leader and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia has also repeatedly spoken about a split within AAP.
Know About the Floor Test
If the opposition brings a ‘no-confidence motion’ against the government and the government wins it, thereby proving its majority, then according to the rules of the assembly, the opposition cannot bring such a motion again for the next 6 months.
If the government itself brings a motion of confidence and wins, then under normal circumstances a motion of no confidence cannot be brought for six months. However, if more legislators of the government form a separate faction or submit a letter to the Governor, the Governor can ask the Chief Minister to prove their majority.
