Punjab Govt schools create History: Over 1,187 students pass NEET/JEE, top national survey

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab has made historic strides in the field of education. Punjab has surpassed education-leading states like Kerala by securing the first position in the National Achievement Survey 2024.

The outstanding performance of students in grades 3, 6, and 9 has proven that government schools have now become a symbol of quality education. Education Minister Bains said, “This success belongs to an ordinary child who, through hard work and confidence, has written a new story.”

Not only in academic results, but students from government schools have also created history in competitive examinations. In 2025, 845 students passed NEET, 265 passed JEE Mains, and 44 passed JEE Advanced—of which 6 students secured admission to IITs.

This change has been made possible by the “Schools of Eminence” initiative and government coaching camps in the state. Furthermore, the government has provided uniforms to 15.49 lakh students and free textbooks to all.

In 2025, 725 new teachers were recruited and over 10,000 contract teachers were regularized. A total of over 25,000 teachers have been permanently appointed so far.

Today, Punjab’s government school system is competing with private institutions. Education reforms have made it a matter of pride to study in government schools.
