Bomb Threat To Punjab And Haryana High Court; Premises Evacuated, Security Search Underway

Chandigarh: Security agencies were put on alert on Friday morning after a bomb threat was received regarding the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh.

Following the threat, police evacuated the High Court complex and tightened security arrangements as a precautionary measure. PCR vehicles, fire tenders and ambulances reached the spot, while bomb squad teams and other security agencies began searching the premises.

High Court Complex Evacuated, Bomb Squad Conducts Search

Police and security personnel are inspecting the entire High Court complex for any suspicious objects or vehicles.

So far, no suspicious item has been found on the premises during the search, according to the information available.

Security agencies have continued their inspection of the complex, while additional security measures have been put in place following the threat.

Investigation Underway To Trace Caller

No official details have yet emerged regarding the identity of the caller or the source of the threat.

Police are working to trace the source of the threatening call and identify the person behind it. Security teams are also examining the premises as part of the precautionary operation.

Government Locations In Chandigarh Have Faced Earlier Threats

Several government and public locations in Chandigarh have received bomb threats in the past, including schools, the passport office and the High Court.

The Chandigarh District Court has also previously received a bomb threat. Similar threats have been reported at the Punjab Secretariat and the Sector-43 bus stand.

In those instances too, police and security agencies carried out searches of the premises, but no suspicious objects were found.

The investigation into Friday’s threat remains underway, with security agencies continuing their search and police working to establish the source of the call.
