Hottest wave: 18 Punjab cities cross 35°C, Bathinda 41°C hot

The heat is intensifying in Punjab and Chandigarh. The temperature recorded in Bathinda is 41.1 degrees, while in Chandigarh it is 40.0 degrees. The state’s temperature has increased by 1.8 degrees, and it is now 3.5 degrees above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry from today until April 24. In the coming days, the temperature will rise by 2 to 3 degrees. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has urged people to stay alert and pay attention to food and drink.

According to the Meteorological Department’s data, the maximum temperature in a total of 18 cities in the state has been recorded in the range of 35 to 41 degrees. In Amritsar, it is 36.8 degrees (an increase of 2.0 degrees), in Ludhiana 39.8 degrees (3.2 degrees), in Patiala 40.4 degrees (3.1 degrees), and in Hoshiarpur 37.3 degrees with an increase of 2.4 degrees.

There was no change in temperature in Faridkot and Fazilka, while Gurdaspur recorded a drop of 3.0 degrees with 34.0 degrees. The highest increase of 3.3 degrees was observed in Ballowal, Sonkhari, and Salerna. In Mohali, it increased by 2.1 degrees to 38.1 degrees, in Ferozepur by 1.4 degrees to 37.2 degrees, and at Bhakra Dam by 2.0 degrees to 37.4 degrees. Light scattered rain is likely on April 19. It is estimated that the maximum temperature will rise by 3–5°C between April 18 and 24.

Temperature to remain up to 40 degrees till 23rd April

In the northeastern parts of the state, such as Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar (Ropar), and Nawanshahr, the maximum temperature is likely to be between 32 and 36 degrees, while in the rest of the state it may remain between 36 and 40 degrees. During this week, the maximum temperature in the state is expected to be slightly higher than normal. Similarly, in Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar (Ropar), and Nawanshahr, the minimum temperature is expected to be between 16 and 18°C, while in the rest of the state it may remain between 18 and 20 degrees.

Weather will remain dry

According to Surendra Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry. There will be no significant change in the maximum temperature in the next 24 hours, but after that, it is expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
