Every Life Matters: High-Tech Ambulances Strengthen Punjab’s Healthcare System

Chandigarh: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has given a new momentum to emergency healthcare services. Over the past year, the state has significantly strengthened its medical response system by expanding its fleet of GPS-enabled, high-tech ambulances.

In July 2024, 58 new ambulances were added, followed by 46 more in June 2025, taking the total number of ambulances in the state to 371. These vehicles ensure timely access to medical aid across districts and even the remotest villages. Equipped with oxygen support, life-saving medicines, first-aid tools, and GPS tracking, these advanced ambulances provide critical care on the move.

The government has set a strict response-time standard 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural regions. Through this service, over one lakh patients have been transported to hospitals so far. Remarkably, more than 80 babies have been safely delivered inside these ambulances. During emergencies such as floods, the government also introduced innovative “boat ambulances”, ensuring medicine supply and relief reach remote, waterlogged villages.

Chief Minister Mann stated, “Our goal is to ensure that no patient in Punjab is deprived of timely medical assistance.” This initiative is not only expanding the healthcare infrastructure but also instilling confidence among citizens that help will reach every person in need, right on time
