71 teachers in Punjab to be honored with State Awards

Chandigarh: The Punjab government is organizing a state-level program in Sri Anandpur Sahib today (October 5) to mark International Teachers’ Day. 71 teachers will be honored with state awards. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will attend the event as the chief guest.

All these teachers being honored are those who have not only excelled in academics but have also enhanced the reputation of government schools in other activities. They have also inspired students to progress. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate the Heritage Street, which will be built at a cost of 25 crore rupees.

The program was delayed due to floods.

The Education Department organizes this ceremony every year on September 5th, but this year, due to severe flooding in the state, the government postponed the Teachers’ Day celebration and announced it would be held at a later date. The ceremony is now being held in the historic city of Sri Anandpur Sahib. During the ceremony, 55 teachers will receive the State Teacher Award, 10 teachers the Young Teacher Award, three special awards, and three management awards.

Teachers will only be asked to do teaching work.

During the Aam Aadmi Party government’s tenure, government schools have undergone numerous improvements. At a cost of approximately ₹2,000 crore, 1,200 kilometers of boundary walls and 13,000 new classrooms have been constructed in 8,000 schools. Additionally, facilities such as bathrooms, Wi-Fi access, and school guards have been added to schools.

118 schools in the state have been declared “Schools of Eminence,” and a “Schools of Brilliance” initiative has also been launched. Teachers have also been sent to Singapore for training to learn modern teaching techniques. School results have improved, with results for exams like NEET and JEE Advanced being very good.

The Education Minister has clearly stated that teachers will only be required to teach, and they will not be required to perform any other tasks.
