Amritsar: The Punjab government is organizing a historic mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) and parent workshop in all government schools across the state today, December 20, 2025. This initiative, based on the theme of Maa-Pita ki Bhagidari (Parent Participation), aims to make parents active partners in their children’s education.
In preparation for this statewide program, more than 40,000 teachers have been given special training at the block and cluster levels. At least one trained teacher from each school will conduct the workshop. School Management Committees (SMCs) have also been activated to play a key role in engaging parents, organizing, and coordinating the program.
This mega event will cover approximately 2.7 million parents from pre-primary to senior secondary schools. The duration of the parent workshop will be approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, followed by a mega PTM. A uniform workshop structure and informative handouts for parents have been provided across all schools.
The main objective is to involve parents in the development of children.
The primary objective of the workshop is to educate parents about their role in their children’s academic, emotional, and social development and to foster a strong home-school rapport. The Mega PTM aims to foster positive communication between teachers, parents, and students, to recognize children’s progress, and to establish concrete action plans for the future.
Home and school together will ensure a bright future
The government believes this initiative will improve students’ academic outcomes, regular attendance, emotional well-being, and active community participation. Home and school working together is the key to a child’s bright future.
