Punjab Mega PTM Today: 25 Lakh Parents Expected Across 19,200 Government Schools

Chandigarh: Punjab government schools are holding a Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (Mega PTM) on October 9, with around 25 lakh parents expected to participate across 19,200 government schools in 23 districts. The initiative will focus on students’ academic progress, achievements and participation in school activities, giving parents an opportunity to understand how their children are performing in the school.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab, has issued directions to education officials to ensure that the meetings are organised properly. Kiran Sharma, Director of SCERT Punjab, has instructed the concerned officials to make the necessary arrangements and ensure parental participation.

According to a letter issued by SCERT on October 8, District Education Officers have been directed to oversee preparations for the programme. An earlier communication on the same matter was issued on October 6.

Parents to Learn About Children’s Academic Progress

The Mega PTM will provide a platform for parents to interact with teachers and learn about their children’s academic performance and achievements. Schools have been instructed to share details of students’ progress and showcase activities conducted on their premises.

The meetings are intended to help parents gain a better understanding of their children’s learning, classroom participation and overall development. School authorities have also been directed to highlight students’ achievements so that parents can see the work being carried out in government schools.

The department has stressed the importance of parental participation in the October 9 meetings. Teachers and school heads are expected to present relevant information about students’ progress and the activities organised at their institutions.

SCERT Directs Schools to Send Mega PTM Videos on WhatsApp

Along with organising the meetings, SCERT has directed principals and heads of government schools to record videos of the activities conducted during the Mega PTM.

According to the instructions, the recordings must be sent to the designated WhatsApp number, 8353006154. Schools have also been asked to capture activities involving the participation of parents and students during the meetings.

The directions require school authorities to document the events and maintain records of the activities carried out as part of the programme. District-level officials have been asked to ensure that schools comply with the instructions.

Mission Samarth and Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana Activities to Be Recorded

The SCERT directions also cover activities related to Mission Samarth and the Chief Minister’s Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, also referred to as the Mothers-Daughters Honor Scheme.

School heads have been instructed to record relevant activities under these initiatives, including students’ participation. The videos are intended to document the activities being conducted in schools and provide a record of the programmes.

The instructions have been circulated among the concerned District Education Officers and officials of Punjab’s School Education Department. The Mega PTM is expected to bring parents and teachers together to discuss students’ progress while showcasing achievements and school activities across the state.
