Punjab MLA Sukhwinder Singh Kotli seeks action over pending Adampur bridge work

Adampur: Sukhwinder Singh Kotli, MLA from Adampur, raised the long-pending issue of the Adampur bridge and the road leading to Hoshiarpur in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, urging the government to take immediate action.

Issue pending for nearly 10 years

Speaking in the Assembly, Kotli said the project was started in 2016 but has still not been completed. He questioned why action had not been taken against the officials responsible for the delay.

He informed the House that residents of Adampur and people travelling through the area have been facing serious inconvenience due to the incomplete bridge and road.

MLA had earlier raised the matter

Kotli said he had earlier taken up the issue seriously and even staged protests to highlight the problem. He said that after raising the matter earlier, road work in the town was completed but the bridge project remained unfinished.

He also mentioned that during the Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister had visited the area seeking votes but the issue remained unresolved.

PWD Minister assures work will begin in June

Responding to the issue, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Punjab’s PWD Minister, assured the House that work on the bridge and road would begin in June.

Following the assurance, Kotli thanked the minister and also expressed gratitude to Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan for allowing time to raise the important public issue.
